Florida is not a single pickup market. Jacksonville, the Gulf Coast, Central Florida, and South Florida can require different approaches and schedules. Specify the actual address and a receiver who will be there; “anywhere in Florida” is not enough detail for a dependable transport plan.
Identify the coast and the final handoff address
An Orlando, Tampa, or Miami quote should identify the actual pickup and destination rather than using a statewide rate. Island, barrier-island, condo, and restricted residential locations may need an alternate meeting point. Ask the carrier to assess access before dispatch.
A price advertised for a major metro does not necessarily include an onward transfer to a smaller coastal town or the Keys. Confirm whether the same truck completes the delivery, who handles any transfer, and which charges are included.
Coordinate seasonal residence dates with pickup windows
If you move between homes seasonally, give the provider both your vehicle-availability date and the date someone can receive it. Ask for pickup and transit estimates separately. Seasonal scheduling can change availability, but it does not justify an invented universal percentage surcharge.
Check community gate hours and who can sign for the vehicle if your flight schedule changes. Do not assume a condo concierge will inspect a car or accept keys on your behalf. Arrange a representative the carrier and property both accept.
Have a storm and delay plan
Check Florida 511 for road conditions and official local notices when weather threatens the trip. Ask the carrier how it communicates a changed pickup, a road closure, or an unavailable delivery address. Do not treat a normal-weather transit estimate as a guarantee during a disruption.
Before authorizing a different endpoint or storage arrangement, ask about charges and custody. Keep the written change and contact details, and inspect at delivery even if the schedule was inconvenient. Delay and physical damage are different issues with potentially different contract terms.
