The truck or vessel is only one part of an industrial move. The largest risks often occur during shutdown, disassembly, packing, reassembly, and restart when a missing part or damaged calibration stops production.
Create a technical move plan
Identify the machine owner, technical lead, rigger, packer, carrier, customs contact, and destination installer. Define shutdown, lockout, drain, disassembly, lifting, packing, transport, unpacking, and commissioning milestones.
Protect sensitive systems
Cap hydraulic and pneumatic lines, protect control panels, support moving assemblies, preserve calibration references, and control moisture. Use shock, tilt, and temperature indicators when the machine or warranty requires them.
Photograph every stage and keep small parts in labeled containers attached to the correct assembly.
Budget reassembly and testing
A quote that covers only freight may not cover rigging, crane time, installation, alignment, electrical testing, or recommissioning. Assign those responsibilities before the machine leaves the origin.
