Provide road width, grades, gates, overhead lines, branches, surface, turning room, and any restrictions. For boats and equipment, include crane, launch, dock, or forklift requirements.
Photos and a map pin help, but they do not replace the carrier’s route and safety assessment.
Define the endpoint
Ask whether the driver loads from the exact address, a public road, a yard, or a terminal, and who chooses an alternate staging area. Put any accessorial charges and waiting terms in writing.
Make the handoff safe
The owner or authorized contact should be present, have keys and documents ready, and keep bystanders away from ramps, winches, cranes, and moving equipment. Complete the condition report before the truck leaves.
