Pickup trucks range from compact daily drivers to lifted work trucks with racks and oversized tires. A useful quote depends on the truck that actually arrives at pickup, not a generic “vehicle” selection made online.
Give the quote accurate truck details
Provide year, make, model, bed length, height, weight if known, running condition, and modifications. A lift kit, winch, camper shell, ladder rack, dual rear wheels, or non-standard tires can change clearance and loading requirements.
Ask whether the price includes all pickup and delivery fees, and whether a trailer can reach both addresses. A low quote that assumes standard dimensions may change when the driver sees the truck.
Prepare the cab, bed, and exterior
Remove personal property, tools, loose bed liners, antennas, toll devices, and detachable accessories. Wash the truck and take photographs of the bumpers, mirrors, glass, wheels, bed, tailgate, and any existing marks.
Leave the fuel at the carrier’s requested level and address leaks, weak tires, alarms, and battery issues before pickup. A truck that cannot roll, steer, or brake needs a documented loading plan.
Compare quotes by the service they promise
Compare equipment, pickup window, delivery range, insurance, cancellation terms, and payment schedule—not just the base price. Ask whether the quote is for open or enclosed transport and whether the actual carrier may change.
At delivery, inspect before signing and record new damage on the bill of lading. Keep the photographs, quote, and communications in one file in case the truck needs a claim review.
